The University of Mary Washington is offering a $1,000 reward for anybody who provides information that leads to the arrest of a man who assaulted a female runner last Thursday at the Battleground Athletic Complex on Hanover Street.

Police continue to search for the attacker, who has been described as white and in his late 20s. He is 6 feet, 2 inches and 250 pounds and was last seen wearing black shorts and a white T–shirt, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

About 7:30 a.m. last Thursday, a woman was running at the track when a man with a gun grabbed her and pushed her into the bushes. When she resisted, he dropped the gun, got flustered and then ran off toward Alum Spring Park.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540/373-3122.
